George & Zoe - Glyndebourne Opera House
This wedding was something very different for me, very different indeed. I'm not actually responsible for any of the images you see here, the fantastic work was done by my two colleagues Claire and Steph. At this wedding, I was in fact, BEST MAN!! A nerve-shredding experience indeed and one I will never forget. It was truly an honour to be George and Zoe's Best Man and I'm so excited to share with you, their wonderfully unique wedding at the spectacular Glyndebourne!
It was Steph and Claires turn to divide up in the morning with Steph going over Zoe's parent's house in Bexhill and Claire shooting the Grooms party. The Bride and her Bridesmaids were super relaxed and just enjoying the pampering of having hair and make-up done.
Claire had the unfortunate task of having to deal with us Groomsmen for the morning, and I think saw more hairspray than the girls would have used. Thankfully though we made good time.
The ceremony took place on the Milwards Estate, in a lovely little ceremony room in one wing of the house. The ceremony was great and I didn't trip over on my way to give the rings so that was good! After the ceremony, the guests braved the chilly weather to have drinks on the lawn as well as the group photographs.
Despite the fact I had the opportunity to relax and be a guest for the day. I was very jealous that Claire & Steph had the opportunity to photograph such a stunning venue. Glyndebourne has only hosted three weddings in it's over eighty-year history, and both the ones before this day were for family members. The setting was truly incredible! We even got shots of the Bride and Groom on the stage of the opera house, on the set of what looked to be Ancient Pompeii. A pretty unique photo opportunity if ever there was one!
I don't think I have ever felt more nervous about anything in my life than the Best Man speech I had to give. I have spent the last eight years in this job telling nervous Best Men that all will be fine. Then proceeded to forget my own advice. However, the speeches, including my own all went down well and I could finally relax!
It was great to be able to join in with the party and enjoy being a guest for a change. Especially amongst so many friends. Also the opportunity to have a dance with my Wife! It was a truly great wedding and one ill remember forever. I'm so very proud of George and Zoe for putting together such an incredible day. It goes without saying that I wish them all the very best and a long and happy marriage.
Also a big shout out to my colleagues Steph & Claire who worked so hard and did so well to capture the day so perfectly!
